Kunming Medical University Hai Yuan College was established by Kunming Medical University and Kunming Fu Da Industrial Group Corporation in June 2001, verified by China Ministry of Education in January 2004 as the sole Medical “Self-governed College” in Yunnan Province. The total enrollment of students reaches 8245 and students are coming from 31 provinces and cities in China .
Haiyuan College has two campuses, one is Yanlin Campus which located in Yunnan Vocational Education Base, the other is Gaoxin Campus which located in Kunming High-tech Development Zone. Both campuses occupied an area of 465,466m2 with a floor spare of 290,000 m2.. The total assets are 582,000,000 RMB.
Haiyuan College has independent teaching management and teaching organization system. The college consists of 2 departments (Humanities and Sociology Department & Preclinical Medicine Department); 9 faculties and 18 majors (the First Faculty of Clinical Medicine, the Second Faculty of Clinical Medicine, the Third Faculty of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Oral Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacology, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Liberal Art, Faculty of Arts); 13 public course teaching & research sections; 11 comprehensive medical teaching & research sections; 17 laboratories; one well-stocked library with more than 590,500 volumes of books; and the assets of utilities for teaching, researches and clinical work are more than 36,400,000 RMB. Among a faculty of 697 in Hai Yuan College, there are 200 professors and associate professors, two “Teaching Master-hand of Yunnan province”, one “Education Model of Yunnan Province”, one “Teaching Master-hand Studio of Yunnan Province”, one “Teaching Team of Yunnan Province”. Haiyuan College has three affiliated hospitals—Tian Qi Hospital, Maternal and Child Care Center of Yunnan Province, Yunnan Health Education Institute, and shares the good-quality teaching resources(16 medical majors, more than 10 affiliated hospitals, more than 40 teaching hospitals, training hospitals and practice bases) with Kunming Medical University.
